General Job Description
Entech Civil Engineers, Inc. (Entech) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Engineer to support our Utility Engineering/Utility Coordination Team in Houston, Texas. This is an entry-level position ideal for recent civil engineering graduates or early-career professionals looking to develop expertise in utility coordination and transportation infrastructure projects. The selected candidate will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment alongside engineers, designers, and project managers to support the identification, coordination, and management of utility conflicts on transportation projects. You will gain hands-on experience working under the guidance of senior staff with clearly defined objectives and opportunities for professional growth.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating with utility owners (water, wastewater, gas, electric, telecom) for transportation and infrastructure projects
- Support the identification and resolution of utility conflicts during design and construction phases
- Review plans, schematics, and utility records to verify existing utility locations
- Prepare utility conflict matrices, reports, and coordination documentation
- Assist in developing utility relocation plans and schedules
- Communicate with project teams, clients, and external stakeholders to track utility coordination progress
- Maintain accurate records of correspondence, agreements, and coordination efforts
- Support preparation of plan sets, exhibits, and technical documentation
- Participate in field visits and assist with utility investigations as needed
- Work collaboratively with engineers and designers to ensure project deliverables meet requirements
Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a civil or related engineering discipline, required
- Registration and designation as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain, preferred
- 0–3 years of experience (internships or relevant coursework preferred)
- Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and transportation projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to interpret maps, plans and utility records
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication, and problem-solving skills
- Exposure to CAD software (Bentley ORD & MicroStation) is a plus
- Experience supporting Survey, Construction or SUE operations is a plus
- Familiarity with utility systems (water, sewer, drainage, electric, telecom) is a plus
- Familiarity with TxDOT Utility Coordination process, TAC Utility Accommodation Rules, 811 systems, GIS platforms are a plus
